Where to Stay
Stay with us at Springkell
We've booked the whole estate for everyone to enjoy over the weekend! Rooms in the house and cottages come with our wedding package and have been assigned to guests. Room assignments to come after RSVP window closes.
Otherwise check out the below for options to stay nearby. The castle will be helping set up taxis and transport from these and others nearby. Let us know in your RSVP where you are staying.
If you're staying at Springkell
Your room is already taken care of
The rooms at Springkell are part of our wedding package, and we've already assigned them. If you have one, it's yours for Friday and Saturday nights, with breakfast each morning. Your invitation tells you which room is yours. There's nothing to book and nothing to pay.

21 bedrooms
Recently renovated en-suite rooms in the house itself, with a full Scottish breakfast each morning.

Three cottages
Self-catering cottages about 50 metres from the house, for families and groups of friends.
If you're staying nearby
Finding your own place
You're just as much a part of the weekend, including Friday's welcome dinner. The easiest plan is to stay somewhere on the train line, so you can use the Springkell shuttle from Lockerbie station.
Lockerbie
The closest town, with a few small hotels and B&Bs near the station. Rooms are limited, so book early.
Carlisle
A small city with lots of hotels at every price. Take the train to Lockerbie and catch the shuttle.
Gretna & Annan
Close by and good value, but not on the train line, so plan on a taxi each way.
It's a quiet rural area with few rooms. Aim to book by spring 2027.
Plans change. A flexible rate costs a little more but is worth it this far ahead.
Post where you're staying in #where-to-stay on Discord, so you can share taxis.
Tell us in your RSVP where you're staying, so we can plan rides back after the ceilidh.
All by train
Making a holiday of it?
Every trip below starts from a station on the line through Lockerbie, so you won't need a car. Times are typical fastest trains.
Edinburgh
The castle, the Old Town and the Royal Mile, plus great food. Two nights here is an easy way to get over jet lag before the weekend.
Glasgow
Galleries, the Kelvingrove museum, Charles Rennie Mackintosh buildings and a lively food scene.
The West Highland Line
One of the world's great train rides, past Loch Lomond and across Rannoch Moor to Fort William. Glencoe is a short bus ride away. Autumn colors peak in late October.
Inverness & the Highlands
Through the Cairngorms to the Highland capital, with Loch Ness close by. Stop at Pitlochry on the way for a whisky distillery.
The Lake District
Change at Oxenholme for Windermere. Lakes, fells and stone villages, and a boat across the lake.
London or York
Flying home from London? Stop on the way. York, with its medieval walls and Minster, is an easy detour by train from Edinburgh.
Tip: a BritRail pass
If you'll take several trains, a BritRail pass for visitors can save money. You have to buy it before you arrive in the UK.
